Simeon Jackson celebrated his 15th goal of the season in a 2-0 win at Accrington to boost Gillingham's promotion push.
It was not the classiest of strikes for the Canada international but, from a John Nutter corner, Simon King hooked the ball goalwards and Jackson got the final touch to force the ball over the line in the 18th minute.
Dennis Oli made the game safe after 67 minutes when he got on the end of Nicky Southall's ball and his strike took a deflection and wrong-footed keeper Kenny Arthur.
It took the Gills' unbeaten run to five games while struggling Stanley notched up their eighth game without a win.
They did come close - Gills keeper Simon Royce had to pull off two good saves to keep out Andy Procter's long-range strike and Paul Mullin's volley in the first half.
Southall almost headed into his own net at the death but Mark Bentley cleared off the line to keep a clean sheet for the visitors.
