Boulding rescues Stanley

Accrington substitute Rory Boulding scored in injury time to hold Wycombe to a 1-1 draw at home on Saturday afternoon.

The striker got on the end of a Chris Turner cross to direct the ball past Chairboys goalkeeper Nikki Bull from four yards out. Stanley had looked beaten when Matt Bloomfield ruined their record of not having conceded a league goal this season. The Wycombe midfielder got on the end of Kevin Betsy's left wing cross in the 66th and blasted the ball into the roof of the net past Reds defender Sean Hessey on the line. Both sides hit the woodwork in the first half - Sean McConville was put through by Johnny Bateson and he crashed his shot against the crossbar with Wanderers keeper Bull beaten At the other end, Ben Strevens headed down a long ball forward and winger Scott Rendell rattled the woodwork in a rare Wycombe attack. Accrington dominated the first half with McConville playing some dangerous balls into the box and Jimmy Ryan and Terry Gornell unable to find the back of the net. After the break it continued in much the same vein with keeper Bull denying Andy Parkinson with his legs and a Ryan free-kick was palmed away by the Wanderers stopper. But Jon-Paul Pittman broke down the left and found Betsy, who set up midfielder Bloomfield to notch his first of the season - and end a run of eight hours without conceding a league goal for Stanley. They could have had a second five minutes from time but this time Bloomfield failed to find the target at the far post after Betsy set him up. Then, in the fourth minute of injury time, Boulding popped up to rescue a point for the Reds and preserve their unbeaten record.
