Bayern Munich continued their mini-revival in the Bundesliga as they defeated Freiburg 4-2.

Demichelis, Gomez, Tymoshchuk and Kroos all on target

Bayern Munich continued their mini-revival in the Bundesliga as they defeated Freiburg 4-2 at the Allianz Arena on Friday night. After a terrible start to the defence of their German top-flight title, Louis van Gaal's side are now unbeaten in the last three league matches to climb to seventh spot. Bayern were two goals in front shortly after the hour mark thanks to forgotten men Martin Demichelis and Mario Gomez, but Freiburg hit back through Stefan Resinger. However, any hopes of a comeback were extinguished by Anatoliy Tymoshchuk and Toni Kroos to mean Bayern defender Edson Braafheid's late own goal held little significance.

Rare opportunity

Demichelis, who refused to sit on the bench earlier in the season after being dropped, was promoted to the first XI after central defender Holger Badstuber was injured during the warm-up The Argentine made the best of his rare opportunity to glance in a header from a Danijel Pranjic cross six minutes before the break to give injury-plagued Bayern the lead. Gomez doubled it just past the hour with another header before substitute Reisinger briefly cut the deficit three minutes later. Ukrainian Tymoshchuk, who has also hinted he would like to leave in the winter transfer window, fired in Bayern's third from the edge of the box and Kroos added another with a thundering long-range effort nine minutes from time. Braafheid's own goal in the 86th minute did little to dampen the champion's celebrations on the final whistle as the Bavarians moved up to seventh with 15 points.
