MK Dons moved into the second round of the Carling Cup as they eased past Cheltenham 4-1 at Whaddon Road.
The home side took the lead after 29 minutes as Luke Summerfield's shot from the edge of the box took a deflection and beat goalkeeper David Martin who could only get the slightest touch. The Robins then had their best spell of the game as they pegged the Dons in their own half, but the visitors equalised against the run of play four minutes before the interval as Angelo Balanta found Sam Baldock and he made no mistake from six yards. And they were ahead just 21 seconds into the second-half as Baldock's cross from the left was met by Jabo Ibehre who netted right-footed from 12 yards. Two goals in three minutes then put the tie beyond doubt as first Dean Lewington headed in Balanta's inswinging corner and then Balanta got on the scoresheet himself as he got his head onto Ibehre's cross from the right.
