Strugglers beat out of form Carlisle

Striker Andy Williams scored his first goal for Hereford since returning to Edgar Street on loan from Bristol Rovers to send Carlisle tumbling 1-0. Williams lashed the ball into the roof of the net in the 60th minute to end Hereford's barren run of eight games without a win. But it took two fine saves from goalkeeper Darren Randolph to keep the hosts on level terms at the interval. Randolph made a good stop to deny Carlisle's leading marksman Danny Graham in the early stages and then dived full-length to stop a close-range header from Danny Livesey on the line. Williams went close to heading a second shortly afterwards but his low drive was turned around the post by goalkeeper Ben Alnwick while Steve Guinan headed wide from close range. To make matters worse for Carlisle central defender Richard Keogh was sent off in the 77th minute for elbowing Guinan in the face.
