Ipswich returned to winning ways after an Adam Matthews own goal helped the hosts to a 2-0 victory over Cardiff.
The result sees Roy Keane's side replace the Bluebirds in second place in the Championship table after taking 14 points from their opening seven league encounters.
The home side were keen to bounce back after suffering a 3-0 rout at the hands of high-flying Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday.
But it was ultimately an error from Dave Jones' side that put them on course for a win as Matthews unwittingly headed the ball into the net for the hosts in the 62nd minute.
Jason Scotland's second-half goal sealed Town's deserved victory over a Cardiff side missing the presence of injured skipper Craig Bellamy.
Positive
The Bluebirds made a positive start and leading scorer Jay Bothroyd had a chance to mark his return to the side with an early goal, but the striker blazed over the crossbar from 12 yards out.
Carlos Edwards tried his luck from long range but the Ipswich winger was never going to trouble Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall.
Cardiff were on top but the Welsh side struggled to create changes and Ipswich striker Connor Wickham, making his first start for the home side this season, had a chance to open the scoring after 31 minutes only for the highly-rated teenager to head straight at Marshall.
And as Ipswich finally got into their stride, Wickham had another two opportunities just before the break, but first Cardiff centre-half Gabor Gyepes intervened with a timely block and then the Ipswich frontman headed over the bar after being picked out by Andros Townsend.
Cardiff manager Jones made two changes at half-time, with Gavin Rae replacing Stephen McPhail in midfield and Matthews on for Kevin McNaughton at full-back.
Wickham was proving to be a handful for the Cardiff defence and Mark Hudson did well to block another shot from the youngster two minutes into the second half, just after Ipswich centre-half Gareth McAuley had headed wide from close range.
The Bluebirds were on the back foot and Marshall had to be alert to deny Wickham before substitute Jaime Peters somehow fired over the bar from just six yards out.
But Ipswich were gifted the lead after 61 minutes when teenage defender Matthews headed into his own goal from six yards out.
Grant Leadbitter had a speculative strike from 35 yards out a minute later, but Marshall gathered comfortably.
Clinical
But it was no surprise when the second goal came after 73 minutes when Tom Eastman crossed for Scotland, who produced a clinical right-foot finish high into the roof of the net.
Cardiff almost pulled a goal back straight away when Chris Burke picked out Peter Whittingham, but the midfielder's header was tipped over the bar by the agile Fulop.
Peters could have added a third with 12 minutes remaining, heading over from six yards out, but the points were already in the bag for Keane's side.
