Billy Davies has called on Derby's fans to give summer signing Benny Feilhaber time to settle in English football.
The Brazilian-born American international has made three Premier League appearances for The Rams, but is yet to make an impact.
Davies believes the 22-year-old former Hamburg midfielder needs time on the training ground before being able to give fans a taste of what he is about.
"We know he is good with the ball, we know what he is all about but he is a young lad," he told the Derby Evening Telegraph.
"We identified him as a project, if you like. A young player who is emerging on the international scene, a young player full of attributes, and a player we can improve.
"Now we have to be patient, work with him on the training ground and give him time to settle in."
