Fulham pair eye Sunderland win

Fulham's Jimmy Bullard and Brede Hangeland want to beat Sunderland at Craven Cottage for the fans.

Pair want to re-pay fans' fantastic support

Fulham pair Jimmy Bullard and Brede Hangeland want to give the fans something to cheer about when Sunderland visit Craven Cottage in a crucial relegation six-pointer on Saturday. The fans have not had a lot to shout about this term, with Fulham second-from-bottom in the Premier League, six points adrift from safety with just six games to go. And their position was not helped when they surrendered a 2-1 lead - and threw away two vital points - against Derby at Pride Park last Saturday. More than 2,000 Fulham fans had made the journey for the game and the players now want to make amends this Saturday. Influential midfielder Bullard said he was gutted by the Derby result and wants to re-pay the fans' fantastic support.

Hundred percent

He told the club's official website: "As players we try a hundred per cent. "I know that as long as the fans think you're trying they keep behind you but we haven't given them enough to cheer about this season. I want that to change. "We're professional football players and we're in the Premier League and we need to show some quality out there and get the results that will help us stay in this division. "None of us want to go down and we're not thinking that way, but we owe the fans and we all need to show them that on Saturday." Cottagers central defender Hangeland is also thinking positively ahead of the crucial game.
Win
He told the club's official website: "We all know we have to win games and this is definitely one we have to win. "Hopefully our fans can back us and we can produce the same type of performance we saw against Everton (which the Cottagers won 1-0)." Speaking of the Derby game, he added: "We were a bit disappointed. We didn't play that well and, against the only team below us in the league, we felt like we should have won it. "But we're always good at getting the mood back in the camp as quick as possible. We're working hard to prepare for another vital game. It's no good thinking about the past; we just have to look forward to the next game."
