Defender tips Dutch club to turn poor start around

Feyenoord defender Kamohelo Mokotjo is confident his side can recover from their midweek defeat to Roda JC. The Dutch club have endured a poor start to the season, winning just two of their six league games to sit 10th in the Eredivisie standings, nine points adrift of leaders Ajax. Mario Been's side had hoped for some relief in the Dutch Cup against Roda but crashed out as they went down 4-3 on penalties. Under pressure Been has also been hit by the news that striker Jon Dahl Tomasson is set to be out until the new year as he continues his recovery from a thigh injury. However 19-year-old Mokotjo, who made his Feyenoord debut on Wednesday having spent last season on loan at Excelsior, has backed Been's side to bounce back.

Character

"We played some good football and should have won (against Roda),'' Mokotjo told ESPN. "It's a big disappointment for the team that we did not. But there is plenty of the season left and it will get better, I'm sure. "This team has quality and character. That will come out. We will be showing that in the league.'' Feyenoord return to league action with their visit to NEC on Sunday, who have also collected seven points so far this campaign.
