Veteran stopper pledges future to Kerkrade club

Rob Wielaert has silenced speculation over his future by committing to Roda JC on a two-year deal. The 32-year-old defender spent this season on loan at the Limburg club from Eredivisie giants Ajax, notching up 30 appearances. And Wielaert, formerly of PSV Eindhoven and FC Twente, has now joined Roda on a permanent basis, penning a contract that will keep him in Kerkrade until 2012. Roda technical director Gerard Wielaert, who is also the player's father, was pleased to tie the stopper down on a long-term deal. "I am delighted that Rob will spend the next two seasons with Roda JC Kerkrade under contract," he told Voetbal International. "I also especially like the idea of working with my son at the same club."
