Striker admits transfer is unlikely this summer

Young striker Bas Dost says he expects to stay at Heerenveen despite reported interest from other clubs. The 22-year-old, who scored 13 goals in 32 Eredivisie appearances last term, has been linked with a number of sides this summer, including Feyenoord, Ajax and Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon. However Dost, who still has four years remaining on his contract at Abe Lenstra Stadion, believes suitors have been put off by his price tag.

Expensive

"This summer I have been really busy (working on) a transfer," Dost told AD. "Now I am no longer working. "Because I have a four year contract, I am an expensive player for interested clubs. "I have learned that Feyenoord are interested, but I have not heard any more, which is why I'll continue at Heerenveen this season." Last season proved frustrating for Dost, with coach Ron Jans dropping him to the bench for a number of games. However, the striker was a regular starter towards the end of the campaign and is keen to push on when the new term gets under way. "Everyone was aware of my situation last year," he added. "Nevertheless I scored 13 times. "I am confident that this season will be better. My head is clean and the atmosphere in the group is not at all bad, as I noticed during training camp. "It is a joyful sensation. That's one good thing."
Interest
Dost's team-mate Geert Arend Roorda also expects to remain with Heerenveen, despite interest from Eredivisie rivals FC Utrecht. "I do not see why I would swap Heerenveen for Utrecht," he told Voetbal International. "A couple of months ago Heerenveen beat Utrecht 3-0. "Utrecht does not really have a strong selection, so it would have to be (something) very special to make me want to move there."
