Dempster set for Stags spell

Crawley defender John Dempster has joined Mansfield on a three-month loan deal.

The 28-year-old has made six appearances for the League Two promotion chasers this term, the most recent as a substitute in the FA Cup win over Bury 10 days ago, and also had a spell on loan at Kettering. Town boss Steve Evans told the club website: "John had a number of options open to him but he has chosen Mansfield ahead of a number of clubs near the top of the Blue Square Premier. "It is very important we balance our team budgets and at the same time ensure our players are playing competitive first-team matches. "The Blue Square Premier is a tough league and it has improved year after year, and this loan deal suits all parties." Crawley will have a 24-hour recall option after the first month of Dempster's spell.
