Brazilian defender looking forward to French adventure

Maxwell has been officially presented as a Paris St Germain player, with the Brazilian excited by the challenge that awaits him in France. The 30-year-old was unveiled at a press conference on Thursday, with PSG revealing that he has penned a three-year contract with the club. Maxwell arrives at Parc des Princes from Barcelona, with a fee in excess of €7million (£5.8m) reported to have exchanged hands for his services. Few players turn their back on European champions Barca, but Maxwell believes he has made the right decision in joining PSG's ambitious project and he is looking forward to working under Carlo Ancelotti. "The ambition of the club is what attracted me here," he said. "I will make sure I adhere to how the coach wants me to play.

Motivating

"Ancelotti has won a lot of titles, he's an example for any player and it's very motivating to work alongside him. "I'm confident it will go well." Sporting director Leonardo has also expressed his delight at seeing Ancelotti's first piece of transfer business pushed through, with Maxwell's attacking instincts ideally suited to PSG's style of play. "He's had a great career and we're delighted he's joining us," he said. "Full-backs have become very important. "Maxwell has the ability to make the difference in his position. Ancelotti also knows him well."
