Inter Milan have signed Porto midfielder Fredy Guarin on a six-month loan deal with a view to a permanent move.
The 25-year-old, who joined the Portuguese giants from St Etienne in 2008, flew to Italy on Monday for talks with Inter boss Claudio Ranieri.
The club has since confirmed the player passed a medical on Tuesday morning and has put pen-to-paper on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The Italian giants have the option to make the move permanent on a four-year contract in the summer.
"He's a player of great quality, physical presence and he can change the play; he's just what we needed," Ranieri told the
club's official website.
Inter have also confirmed a deal for Brazilian full-back Juan Jesus from Internacional on a four-year contract.
Meanwhile, Sampdoria midfielder Angelo Palombo has been strongly linked with a move to the San Siro ahead of the transfer deadline.
