Corr boost for Shrimpers

Image: Barry Corr: Ban successfully appealed

Southend have received a boost with the news that their appeal against Barry Corr's three-match suspension has been successful.

The striker was sent off on the stroke of half-time in Saturday's 1-0 win at Hartlepool when he tangled with defender Jack Baldwin and, on the advice of an assistant, was somewhat harshly given his marching orders by referee Mark Brown. However, upon appeal, the dismissal has been rescinded and Corr is now free to face Northampton at Roots Hall this weekend. Corr told the club's official website: "It's great news that it has been overturned and now I'm just really looking forward to Northampton on Saturday." Boss Phil Brown added: "It's good news for us that Barry's card has been overturned. He's an important player and it wouldn't have been ideal missing him for three games."
