Capital One Cup: Steve Bruce set to give Hull squad players a chance

Hull boss Steve Bruce has confirmed he will use his squad players in Tuesday night's Capital One Cup match at home to Huddersfield.

Bruce has made no secret of the fact that he is prioritising Premier League survival this season.

In the last round of the Capital One Cup against Leyton Orient, he made 11 changes, and he looks set to do the same again against the Terriers.

Speaking after Saturday's impressive 3-2 win at Newcastle, Bruce said: "We're not going to be disrespectful to the competition but we made a lot (of changes) last time and we'll certainly do that again."

The club's record signing Tom Huddlestone accepts Bruce's policy.

"First and foremost, we have got to try to sustain Premier League status for next season, but if you can have a good cup run as well, it bodes well," said Huddlestone.

"The manager has got a fairly deep squad as well - the last round in the cup, he changed 11 players and they got the right result, so he is fully within his rights to do that again, I guess."
