Weir: Defeat hard to take

Sheffield United boss David Weir found it hard to believe that his side had lost again following their 2-0 defeat at Wolves.

The result was tough on United who should really have turned a dominant first-half display into a commanding advantage. But both Florent Cuvelier and Febian Brandy each wasted two clear cut chances as smart saves from goalkeeper Carl Ikeme ensured that Wolves managed to get to half-time still on level terms. But Leigh Griffiths and Bakary Sako earned the home side the points to leave Weir frustrated. Weir said: "It is a recurring theme that we are losing games that we should be winning. "I thought there were a lot of positives - especially in the first-half when I thought we played really, really well and made the goalkeeper work which is pleasing. "But we didn't win the game and that is what you are judged on. That is the key point but I thought there were a lot of good things, I genuinely did. "We have to keep working hard, keep taking the blows and remember what it feels like to lose and not like it and try and improve on the details that can make us better and try and turn ourselves into a winning team." It has been a baptism of fire for Weir in his first taste of management and he added: "It is hard but there is no running away, there is no hiding place. "You have to face up to it and not accept it and not enjoy it but come out fighting again. "We want to a team that is winning games. We don't want to be a team that is getting plaudits and losing. "What we are after is to play well and to win games. We are playing well in parts of games but not winning them. "It is a challenge that you have to meet head on. That is what life is all about and I will continue to work hard to make a success of it."
