Turner feels hard done by

Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner felt his team deserved some reward from their 1-0 derby derby defeat at Wolves on Saturday.

Bakary Sako held his nerve to convert a penalty six minutes from time to settle a tight match after Shrews winger Jon Taylor was sent off for handling Matt Doherty's goalbound header. It ensured there was to be no happy ending for Turner, who had been looking to claim the scalp of Wolves, a club whose fortunes he revived during a seven-and-a-half-year spell in charge between 1986-1994. "I've watched re-runs of the penalty award from behind the goal and the side in slow motion and it's still inconclusive," he said. "Even when you stop at the point there's maybe contact with Jon, the referee's got a position where he's got a lot of bodies between himself and the ball and he's done well to spot that because we can't see it." Shrewsbury - playing in front of a record crowd of 9,510 at the Greenhous Meadow - created several good chances, the best of them falling to Curtis Main, who blazed a Taylor cross over the bar from close range on the hour with the goal gaping. Turner said: "There was some good parts in it and some poor parts, but what I know is we've had the best chance of the match and we should have taken the lead - and that possibly gives you the three points. "It's hard to accept at the moment that we've lost the game. We've worked tremendously hard for three matches over the past week and we should have come out with more than two points. "I can't complain about the players' performance and work, everything like that, and what we have to do is maintain a belief. We've got to pick ourselves up now."
