Beattie curses missed chances

Stanley manager James Beattie was left bemoaning missed opportunities after his side lost 2-1 at home to 10-man Rochdale.

Striker Kayode Odejayi, on his home debut on loan from Rotherham, was denied by goalkeeper Josh Lillis before he pulled a goal back. But Odejayi and Peter Murphy both missed great chances before Luke Joyce had an effort cleared off the line, much to the frustration of their rookie manager. "If we take our chances, it's a different result," Beattie said. "I didn't see the sending off but we should have used the one-man advantage but we weren't able to. "We gave away two sloppy goals and then we faced an uphill battle but we had the numerical advantage and had periods in the game when we were dominant but we didn't convert our chances. "We had enough chances to win the game but it didn't happen. "We will though keep working hard and it's my job to keep everyone positive and I am sure it will come."
