Roma piled the misery on struggling Milan with a 1-0 at the San Siro on Sunday.
Elsewhere, Atalanta secured their first win in four games, while Internazionale stuttered against Palermo.
Atalanta were 1-0 victors as they travelled to
Empoli, with Cristiano Doni's 75th minute goal proving enough for Luigi Del Neri's side.
Internazionale, though, failed to take advantage of Juventus' Saturday loss as their four-match winning streak came to an end with a 0-0 draw at
Palermo.
Roma moved into second after a 1-0 victory at the San Siro against
Milan.
Mirko Vucinic netted on 72 minutes to hand three points to Luciano Spalletti's side and inflict the second successive Serie A defeat on Carlo Ancelotti's men.

Catania were the victors as they took on
Sampdoria. A first minute goal from Giuseppe Mascara and a strike from Jorge Martinez sealed a the win for the home side.
Lazio succumbed to a 1-0 home defeat as Gyan Asamoha's goal 12 minutes from end secured the points for
Udinese.

Livorno suffered their seventh loss of the season as
Parma left it late to win 3-2.
Parma took the lead after nine minutes through Stefano Morrone, but the away side turned the game on its head when Francesco Tavano netted a brace.
However, Domenico Di Carlo's men dug deep and goals from Massimo Paci and Domenico Morfeo secured a late victory.
