Juve keep pressure on, Milan climb table

Milan moved up to ninth in the table, while Lazio halted a run of three consecutive losses. Juventus kept the pressure on Internazionale at the top with a 5-0 victory over Palermo. Palermo had been unbeaten in their last six games but could not contain Juventus for long as David Trezeguet struck after 29 minutes. Vincenzo Iaquinta doubled Juve's lead in the 41st minute and Alessandro Del Piero added a third after 72 minutes. Marco Marchionni made it 4-0 three minutes later and Del Piero completed the rout with a penalty in the 90th minute. Carlo Ancelotti's Milan left it late to claim just their fourth league win of the season. Milan were behind early on when Cagliari's Robert Acquafresca struck on four minutes. However, Alberto Gilardino pulled the away side level (61), and then with five minutes remaining Andrea Pirlo netted the winner. Fabio Firmani netted with just seconds remaining as Lazio's poor form came to an end; meaning Parma slip to 15th in the table. Elsewhere, a 0-0 stalemate between Empoli and Torino was enough to drag the home side off the bottom of the table. Livorno claimed three points against Sampdoria as they secured 3-1 victory at Armando Picchi. Giancarlo Camolese's men went ahead courtesy of a Dario Knezevic (8) strike, and Francesco Tavano doubled their lead just two minutes later. Sampdoria pulled one back late on, however a comeback was not to be as Tavano netted his second in added time to wrap up the points. Meanwhile, a brace from Marcelo Zalayeta (46 and 65) handed Napoli a 2-0 triumph over Catania at the Stadio San Paolo. Udinese claimed their seventh win of the season as they beat Siena 2-0 at home. Goals from Fabio Quagliarella (43) and Antonio Di Natale were enough for Pasquale Marino's side, who are now three points behind first-placed Internazionale. Fiorentina missed out on an opportunity to leapfrog second-placed Roma as their trip to Reggina ended goalless.
