Internazionale stretched their lead at the top of Serie A with a comprehensive 4-0 home win over Torino.

Inter strech lead, while Cagliari hit bottom spot

Internazionale stretched their lead at the top of Serie A with a comprehensive 4-0 home win over Torino. The Italian champions are now four points clear at the pinnacle of the league after Roma were held to a 1-1 draw with Livorno. Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave Inter the lead on 37 minutes at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium and then Julio Cruz (50) doubled the advantage after the interval. Luis Jimenez made sure of the points two minutes later before Ivan Cordoba sealed a comfortable victory with 14 minutes remaining. Second placed Roma missed the chance to close the gap on the league leaders as they were held by struggling Livorno. Roma were in front inside four minutes at the Armando Picchi stadium when Daniele De Rossi hit the back of the net. However, Diego Tristan hit back two minutes later and the scores were to remain the same with neither side capable of finding a winner. Juventus, who sit third, moved to within three points of Roma as they left it late to defeat Atalanta 1-0 at the Stadio Delle Alpi. Pavel Nedved struck with four minutes remaining to ensure Atalanta remain in sixth spot. Elsewhere, Cagliari dropped to the bottom of the table as four goals from Nicola Pozzi handed relegation rivals Empoli a comfortable 4-1 home win. Pozzi wasted little time in giving Empoli the lead as he struck on two minutes and he then added a second eight minutes later. The striker then made sure he was taking the match ball home five minutes after the break and he added his fourth on 66 minutes. Daniele Conti hit a 76th minute consolation for Cagliari but it was too little too late. In Sunday's evening kick-off Napoli claimed a 1-0 triumph over Parma courtesy of Marcelo Zalayeta's 17th minute strike. Udinese and Sampdoria played out a five-goal thriller at the Stadio Friuli with the home side eventually securing a 3-2 win. Antonio Di Natale gave Udinese the lead on 23 minutes, but Claudio Bellucci then equalised from the penalty spot. Sampdoria then had the lead when Cristian Maggio netted, but Fabio Quagliarella (70 and 86) hit two goals in the final 20 minutes to secure the win. Siena ensured they stayed out of the relegation zone as they earned a 3-1 away win over Genoa. A goal from Mario Frick (11) gave Siena the lead before Simone Loria (20) added a second. Frick then hit his second of the night after 24 minutes and Genoa's only answer was an 89th minute consolation through substitute Luciano Figueroa.
Empoli 4 Cagliari 1
Genoa 1 Siena 3
Internazionale 4 Torino 0
Juventus 1 Atalanta 0
Livorno 1 Roma 1
Napoli 1 Parma 0
Udinese 3 Sampdoria 2
