Serie A round-up

Inter beat Parma, Milan struck late, Roma's impressive form continued, while Reggina defeated struggling Cagliari.

Roma close the gap on Inter following 2-0 win

Milan struck late, Roma's impressive form continued, while Reggina were the victors in Sunday's bottom of the table encounter. Serie A leaders Internazionale came within two minutes of their first defeat of the season but eventually ran out 3-2 winners against Parma. Esteban Cambiasso gave Inter the lead after 30 minutes but Parma came storming back through Luca Cigarini (41) and Andrea Gasbarroni (69). The main drama was still to come though as Fernando Couto was sent off for handball and Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored from the penalty spot on 88 minutes. There was still time for Ibrahimovic to score again and keep Inter seven points clear of their nearest rivals. Alberto Gilardino was Milan's hero as he netted an 87th-minute winner against high-flying Udinese. The result sees Carlo Ancelotti's men climb into fourth, while Udinese remain fifth in the Serie A table. Roma extended their unbeaten record to 13 games as they recorded a 2-0 success over Catania. Former Barcelona midfielder Ludovic Giuly (8) opened the scoring, before Daniele De Rossi (57) slotted home from the penalty spot to seal the points. Reggina entertained Cagliari in a game that saw 19th in the table take on 20th, respectively. Renzo Ulivieri's men left it late, but goals from Franco Brienza (66) and Francesco Cozza (79) secured the triumph, meaning Cagliari are without a win in 13 league fixtures. Juventus remain in third place despite stumbling against Walter Mazzarri's Sampdoria. Neither side was at their attacking best and the game at the Stadio Delle Alpi ended in a 0-0 stalemate . Both sides ended the 90 minutes with 10 men in Napoli's clash against Lazio. Marek Hamsik (4) opened the scoring for the home side, but two goals in the space of four minutes from Cristian Ledesma (26) and Goran Pandev (30) saw Lazio in front. Napoli were then reduced to 10 men after Emanuele Blasi received a second yellow, but Hamsik grabbed his second to make it 2-2. The match continued to boil over and Guglielmo Stendardo received his marching orders following a straight red. Palermo and Siena played out a five-goal thriller, with the away side claiming a 3-2 triumph. Francesco Guidolin's side broke the deadlock courtesy of Carvalho Amauri's fourth minute strike, but Tomas Locatelli (5) restored parity for Siena. Former Middlesbrough striker Massimo Maccarone was then on hand to make it 2-1 after 11 minutes. Fabrizio Miccoli levelled things with 14 minutes remaining but just seconds later Simone Loria pounced to secure an away success for Siena. Elsewhere, Livorno extended their unbeaten record to nine league fixtures as they secured a 1-0 win over Empoli via Francesco Tavano's (50) penalty.
