Fiorentina reclaimed fourth spot in Serie A with a home win over Catania, while Empoli moved out of the relegation zone. With the Italian big guns having been in action on Saturday, Fiorentina came to the fore with a 2-1 success over Catania. Zdravko Kuzmanovic put Fiorentina ahead five minutes before half-time, only for Catania to level on the hour mark through Juan Vargas. Former Chelsea and Juventus striker Adrian Mutu popped up with the winner for the Viola on 69 minutes. Empoli climbed out of the bottom three with a 3-1 win at Napoli in a stormy affair which saw three players sent off. Nicola Pozzi gave the visitors the lead on 21 minutes before Napoli drew level on 33 minutes through Daniele Mannini. Napoli striker Marcelo Zalayeta and Empoli defender Felice Piccolo were sent off at the interval following a tussle between the two players in the tunnel before Pozzi restored the away side's lead on 65 minutes. Maurizio Domizzi was sent off for Napoli on 74 minutes and Empoli grabbed a third goal 10 minutes from time through Alessandro Budel. Udinese strengthened their grip on sixth spot in the table after a 3-1 win away to lowly Reggina. Simone Pepe gave the visitors an eighth minute lead and Antonio Di Natale made it 2-0 just past the hour point. Francesco Modesto pulled one back for Reggina 15 minutes from time before Di Natale scored his second of the game in injury-time. Sampdoria took the derby honours after Cristian Maggio scored an 87th minute winner against Genoa. Tommaso Rocchi converted two penalties as Lazio eased to a 3-0 success over Atalanta at Stadio Olimpico. Rocchi struck on 25 and 88 minutes for the hosts, with Goran Pandev scoring Lazio's other goal 11 minutes into the second half. Palermo moved up two places in the table after a 2-1 win at home to Cagliari, with Edison Cavani opening the scoring on 23 minutes. Bosko Jankovic scored in first-half injury-time to make it 2-0 to Palermo before Cavani put through his own net on 52 minutes. Torino drew for the 13th time in 23 Serie A matches this season after being held 0-0 at struggling Siena.
