Eredivisie round-up

Wins for Vitesse, Roda and RKC

Saturday brought much-needed victories for Vitesse Arnhem, Roda JC and RKC Waalwijk. The bottom of the Eredivisie table took centre stage in the latest bout of fixtures, with precious points up for grabs. Sparta Rotterdam were the form side in action, following three straight wins, but they slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Roda JC on home soil. Mads Junker put the visitors ahead after 33 minutes, but Rydell Poepon levelled from the penalty spot six minutes later. Roda, who entered the game without a win in five, stole the spoils though when Boldiszar Bodor snatched a 70th-minute winner. Vitesse Arnhem bounced back from three consecutive defeats to see off VVV Venlo 2-0. Dalibor Stevanovic broke the deadlock after 38 minutes and Claudemir Domingues de Souza wrapped things up in injury time. Venlo still have just one victory to their name this season following their latest setback. It is, however, RKC Waalwijk who continue to prop up the division, as they doubled their points tally for the season with a 1-0 win away at NEC Nijmegen. RKC, who had lost 11 of their 12 fixtures this term, took the spoils courtesy of a Derk Boerrigter strike after 32 minutes. Hans Mulder did see red 10 minutes from time, after picking up two yellow cards, but that failed to alter the final outcome.
