Roda JC climbed out of the Eredivisie drop zone thanks to a superb 3-1 win at Willem II, while ADO Den Haag replaced them there after slumping at home to Heracles Almelo.
A Mads Junker brace helped
Roda JC beat
Willem II 3-1 to leapfrog their opponents and climb out of the drop zone.
Junker opened the scoring on 18 minutes before Christophe Gregoire levelled proceedings three minutes later via the penalty pot.
But Ruud Vormer restored Roda's advantage on 68 minutes and Junker sealed the vital three points with his second 19 minutes from time.
The win sees Roda move up to 17 points from their opening 17 games, while Willem II have just 14 points and remain outside the drop zone only on goal difference.
ADO Den Haag are now in the bottom three after losing 4-1 at home to
Heracles Almelo.
Bas Dost scored a quick-fire brace (7, 22) to put the visitors firmly in control before Danny Buys pulled one back on 71 minutes to set up a nervy finale.
But substitute Marko Matic restored the two-goal advantage on 83 minutes and Willie Overtoom added a fourth in stoppage-time to ensure Heracles ran out comfortable winners.
Vitesse Arnhem scored a last-gasp leveller to earn a point at home to
FC Utrecht.
Lasse Nilsson put the home side ahead from the spot in the 27th minute before Utrecht took the lead after goals from Ricky van Wolfswinkel (31) and Jacob Mulenga (41).
But Claudemis Domingues de Souza netted in the 89th minute to earn a share of the spoils for Vitesse.
FC Groningen beat
Sparta Rotterdam 4-2 thanks to a Tomas Enevoldsen hat-trick.
Enevoldsen netted in the 12th, 28th and 40th minutes, while team-mate Matavz scored in the 23rd minute as the visitors dominated the first period.
The home side replied via Erik Falkenburg (19) and substitute Sander Van Gessel (64) but Groningen held on for the much-needed win to pull three points clear of the drop zone.
