Barker frustrated after draw

Crawley boss Richie Barker admitted his side did not have a divine right to expect to win after their 1-1 draw against Shrewsbury.

Crawley went into the clash at the Checkatrade.com Stadium aiming for a third successive win following victories over Peterborough and Gillingham. But they were eventually thankful for a point-saver midway through the second half from midfielder Andy Drury after Aaron Wildig had volloyed Shrewsbury ahead a minute after the break. Barker said: "By the players' own admission, we're better than that. As it was a draw people are a bit flat and disappointed, but that speaks volumes of how far we've come. "We haven't got a God- given right to turn up and expect to win. No one in this league will roll over and let you beat them. "We've set ourselves such a high standard and over the course of 50 games in a season it won't be the case." Barker said that his side did not play approaching their best until late on and for the second week running they came up against an in-form goalkeeper in Chris Weale. He added: "We shaded it in the second half, but our final ball was not where it should've been. Having said that, fair play to Shrewsbury they made it difficult for us." Crawley wasted a glorious chance to go ahead just before the interval when Billy Clarke had a penalty saved after Darren Jones had brought down Nicky Adams, and Barker revealed that Jamie Proctor had fancied taking the spot kick. Barker added: "Last week Billy was the hero with his two goals, but I will continue to back him. He is an excellent finisher."
