Mathieu Manset grabbed the late winner as Hereford completed a remarkable comeback to win 4-3 at Northampton.
The basement club looked to be heading for another defeat after trailing 3-0 at the break as Leon McKenzie had completed a first-half hat-trick for Northampton to put them in control of the battle between the two strugglers. McKenzie opened his account in the 24th minute, beating goalkeeper Adam Bartlett to a Liam Davis cross. McKenzie doubled Northampton's advantage in the 42nd minute, knocking home the rebound after Bartlett could only parry Kevin Thornton's shot, and he completed his hat-trick in first-half stoppage time by racing on to a backpass from James McQuilkin and rounding the stranded Bartlett. Substitute Stuart Fleetwood reduced the arrears in the 59th minute after being set up by Guillem Bauza and the same two players combined in the 70th minute for Fleetwood to grab his second with a header. Two minutes later McQuilkin curled an 18-yard effort into the top corner, leaving substitute Manset to grab a 78th-minute winner following a scramble in the box, while Northampton's miserable day was compounded when defender Ben Tozer was sent off three minutes from the end for throwing the ball at a Hereford player.
