Scunthorpe climbed out of the drop zone after scoring twice in each half for a 4-1 win over fellow strugglers Wycombe.

They took command with two goals in the opening 34 minutes, both coming after the visitors defence had failed to clear their lines from corners. Paul Reid opened the scoring in the fifth minute, forcing the ball from close range after a fierce shot from fellow centre back David Mirfin had been blocked. Winger Andy Barcham made it 2-0 in the 34th minute, ramming home a shot for his eighth goal of the season after another thumping effort from Mirfin, this time a header, had been blocked by keeper Nikki Bull. Wycombe offered little in return and any hopes of a second half fight-back were ripped apart as Scunthorpe struck twice more in the opening 10 minutes after Michael O'Connor was red carded for retaliation after a challenge from Craig Eastmond. Barcham found a clinical finish to make it 3-0 with his second goal of the game in the 47th minute after being put clear by Mark Duffy. Eight minutes later, striker Jon Parkin made it four from close range after Wycombe keeper Nikki Bull had failed to hold a free-kick from Josh Walker. Striker Matt McClure headed a consolation reply after 86 minutes for Wycombe but it could not stop them crashing to a sixth successive away defeat.
