Republic of Ireland U21 international John O'Flynn, unmarked near the penalty spot, volleyed the first after five minutes and, under constant Barnet pressure Shrewsbury conceded another when Michael Jackson let O'Flynn in to round Glyn Garner and score his second from an acute angle.
Grant Holt headed his side back into the game with his 10th goal of the season after 31 minutes following a free-kick by Ben Davies, who then levelled matters two minutes later with a brilliant 20-yard free-kick.
Barnet's defence held out in an exciting second half and in the final eight minutes both sides could have won it as Garner saved bravely at Neal Bishop's feet and Lee Harrison denied Holt with a flying fingertip save.
