Orient frustrate Rovers at Prenton Park
New Leyton Orient boss Geraint Williams masterminded a battling 0-0 draw at Prenton Park as his side frustrated Tranmere.
Lowly Orient put up a resolute performance with Tamika Mkandawire, Jordan Spence and Jason Demetriou all to the fore.
There was precious little goalmouth action in a poor first period. Ed Sonko, Antony Kay and Andy Taylor all missed the target with speculative early efforts for Tranmere before Sonko headed wide just short of the half hour.
Orient offered little as an attacking threat. Loan signing Jimmy Smith got in their first blow on 21 minutes but Danny Coyne saved easily.
Demetriou did bring a good stop from Coyne on 40 minutes, while at the other end Orient keeper Jamie Jones denied Sonko with a fine fingertip save.
James Jennings should have found the target after 85 minutes following clever play by Chris Shuker but his shot shaved the post.
